Dogbreath worship at the shrine of ex-Dr Feelgood guitarist, Wilko Johnson, and have a penchant for the punk-funk of the Gang Of Four. They also possess an esoteric, yet danceable jitteriness and grit all of their own. An ominous cover of Sleepy John Estes's Someday Baby contrasts wonderfully with the exhilarating, hiccoughing drive of their originals. Per Ahman's voice does falsetto soul one minute, next he's as gruff as Tom Waits' younger brother. This life-enhancing racket made me laugh out loud with joy.
